CORK FLOORING

The Many Benefits of Cork Flooring

Cork floors are made from bark harvested from living cork oak trees, which is ground, compressed & formed into sheets bonded with resin. This process makes cork a completely natural & easily replenishable material. Cork is also biodegradable and will break down into the environment at the end of its life cycle.

Cork can be installed in almost any room for a warm, comfortable, & informal appearance. It is hypoallergenic, antimicrobial & eco-friendly.

Soft, cushioned surface

One of the best things about cork is how soft and yielding it feels beneath your feet. Cork is popular in rooms like kitchens where you stand for long periods. It also provides a cushion for accidental falls, making it great for children’s rooms & older residents.

Good insulator

Cork features millions of air-filled chambers that insulate a room from noise transmission. This also saves you money on heating & cooling.

Able to be refinished

Cork can be sanded past the point of imperfection, then stained or re-sealed. This can be done several times, depending on the thickness of the material.

Easy installation & maintenance

Installed correctly, cork flooring is relatively simple to care for. It requires regular sweeping or vacuuming & occasional damp mopping. Sealing cork offers some protection against water, but heavy appliances or furniture can still cause permanent divots.
