Preparing for tile installation
Once you've purchased your new tile or stone flooring, installation is the next step! This type of installation can be complex and time-consuming, so it is best to trust the experts at Frazee Carpet & Flooring with your professional installation.
While someone from our team will be in touch to schedule your installation and will be able to answer any questions you have, there are generally a few things you can do to prepare for the big day.
- Empty the room(s) that will be getting new tile or stone flooring. We might be able to move your furniture for you, but you'll be responsible for moving any fragile items and emptying any closets.
- If you need to paint, do that before your new flooring is installed.
- Plan to be home on the day of the installation.
- Ensure our installation team will have access to electrical outlets.
During your tile installation
On the day of your installation, please ensure that someone who is at least 18 years old will be present to greet the team, show them to the work area, and answer any questions they might have.
First, our team will inspect your subfloor and ensure it is prepared for tile installation. Tile installation has specific subfloor requirements, so this step may take a bit longer.
Once the subfloor is ready, our installation crew will spread mortar & grout as they lay the tile. We may need an area outside, preferably covered, to cut or trim some of the tile. Once all the tiles are set in place, your installation is nearly finished! New installations need time to cure and solidify and should not be walked on for at least 48 hours after the tiles are laid. Bathroom or kitchen installs should remain completely moisture-free for a couple of days so the grout can completely dry.
